Ginger (Sunthi) (Zingiber officinale)

Ginger is the dry form of ginger hence also called dry ginger. Dry ginger is known as vishwabheshaja in Ayurveda, a versatile herb due to its high therapeutic value and disease-curing properties.

Ginger is a rhizome. It is called Adrak (ginger) in wet form and Ginger (Dry ginger) when dried by a specific process. The rhizome is highly fibrous and has a pungent taste. Ginger is specially used as a digestive and soothes inflammatory conditions. It contains Essential oil, pungent constituents (Gingerol and Shogaol), resinous matter, and starch.

• May promote digestion:

Shunthi has a pungent taste and is known to act as an appetizer when taken before a meal. It aids digestion and helps give relief to abdominal pain caused due to indigestion from food.

Shunthi is kapha- vata shamak, which means it pacifies the doshas, i.e., vata and kapha dosha. Shunthi is pungent in taste, but its veerya (potency) is cooling and vipaka is sweet (madhur).

Shunthi is a vital herb in Ayurveda, it aids in digestion with its deepan (appetizer) and pachan (digestive) properties. It reduces the symptom of excessive thirst; it manages pain due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

Half a teaspoon twice daily with warm water or as directed by your healthcare professional.
