Preparation

Clarified butter and Golden Ghee are the two methods of preparing ghee. In the first method, ghee is prepared directly on large quantities of butter without culturing the milk. In the second method, the steps involved in processing Golden Ghee, known as the 'Sanskaras,' transform the physical and natural quality within the ghee - making digestion easy and increasing the ghee quality. Many steps are involved in preparing Golden Ghee - milk is turned into yogurt, then butter (cultured), where buttermilk is separated. Then the butter is heated in a thick-bottomed vessel on a low flame to clarify liquid from the solids. It is then filtered through a cheesecloth, and milk solids are discarded. The fresh ghee is stored in a moist-free airtight container. Thus the Golden Ghee prepared from cultured butter has many bacterial strains suitable for digestive and immune health. Also, it has significantly higher levels of DHA, which reduces the risk of many health problems.

Suggested Use

Take 1 tsp Ghee in the morning or while taking meals. Drinking warm beverages like warm water, milk, or ginger infusion while taking ghee is good. Anyone can also use ghee for cooking, baking, sauteing, frying, and roasting.

Storage

Store ghee at room temperature; there is no need to refrigerate. The ghee is better for its efficacy. Always use a clean and dry spoon to take the ghee. Ghee liquifies in hot weather and solidifies in cold seasons. Liquid, solid, or a combination of both is an expected consistency.

Caution

Ghee is a dairy-based product. For people who need to lower their cholesterol. The AHA recommends reducing saturated fat.
