5 Oil pulling is a method used to promote oral and general health.
The mouth is the entryway to our body, with billions of microorganisms thriving within it. These microorganisms can lead to bad breath, cavities, bleeding gums, and other health issues. Oil pulling is a preventive measure that can be taken to promote oral health.
- Sesame (Sesamum indicum)
- Almond (Prunus dulcis)
- Mint Leaves (Mentha piperita)
- Cloves (Syzygiumaromaticum)
- Cinnamon (Cinnamomum Verum)
To perform oil pulling, swish a tablespoon of oil around your mouth on an empty stomach for 5 to 10 minutes before breakfast. Push the oil between your teeth by swishing it all around your mouth. Once done, spit the viscous oil into a trashcan or paper towel. Rinse your mouth with warm saline water or clean warm water, and then brush your teeth.
