Cinnamon Powder (Cinnamomum Verum)
DESCRIPTION
Ayurveda defines cinnamon as 'Tvak'. Cinnamon has a pungent and sweet taste and is hot in nature.
To fully enjoy the advantages of Ayurvedic spices, it is essential to use the best spices with no fillers, colours or additives and choose cooking methods such as dry roasting, sauteing, and simmering to preserve their nutrients and enhance their flavour. Ayurvedic Golden Ghee is the best option for these techniques as it is an excellent fat that won't quickly burn and delivers more healing nutrients into the digestive system.
BENEFITS
A warming spice with sweet, pungent, and bitter flavours, cinnamon is excellent at revving up digestion. Because of its warming properties, it's pacifying for Kapha and good for balancing Vata as well. Pitta types can consume cinnamon, too, but in relatively smaller quantities. Studies have found that cinnamon might help balance blood sugar by increasing glucose uptake, improving insulin sensitivity in fat and muscle tissues, improving glycogen synthesis in the liver, slowing the rate of gastric emptying, and other potential changes.
ENERGIES / DOSHAS
Cinnamon rasa (taste) is pungent, sweet, and astringent. Virya (Energy) Hot. Vipak (Post - digestive Effect) is sweet. Guna (Quality) Dry, light, penetrating. The Dosha effect reduces vata and kapha; and increases pitta. The main tissues involved plasma, blood, muscles, nerves, and reproductive.
