Benefit
- Benefit for Kapha: The spring is moist and warm so the antidote to these qualities are dry and cool. The Kapha Panchakarma is the most purifying or reducing (of tissue) of all the seasonal cleanses. It uses more of the bitter, astringent and pungent tastes that are found in berries, bitter greens like dandelion, hot chillies and peppers, warm stimulating oils and dry brushing for our bodies and practices that encourage movement.
- Benefits for all: The benefits of an at home Panchakarma cleanse are many. This ancient and sacred purification method was developed by Ayurvedic practitioners (Sages and Rishis) over 5000 years ago to purify the mind, body and spirit of accumulated and stored toxins, parasites, heavy metals, plastics, pesticides, pains and emotions from deep within our bodies and tissues. At the heart of Panchakarma are the five cleansing procedures. In Sanskrit, Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya and Raktamokshana, which translates to purging by laxative, herbal enemas, vomiting therapy, nasal rinsing and blood letting. Vomiting and blood letting are NOT traditionally prescribed in the United States, so we will not be incorporating those two procedures in this cleanse. We focus on diet, herbs, abhyanga (oiling the body), oil pulling, hot baths/steam therapy, nasal rinsing with a neti pot, and once all of the toxins have migrated to the digestive tract and colon, we expell by purgation followed by a highly nourishing basti or enema. After the 5 days you will feel clear in mind and body, calm, content, and more within your true nature. Patients feel a profound sense of peace and wellbeing when the body releases and sheds the toxins and emotions that have been accumulating in the system for many years, if not an entire lifetime. It is recommended to preform a PK Cleanse at least twice a year. The spring and fall, during the equinox has been the tradition, however, considering the toxic load that our current environments find us in, it is intuitive to cleanse seasonally and include the solstices as well. Panchakarma is a strong purification process and in light of this, we have included tonification therapies within the cleanse to bring balance to the mind and body, such as applying oil to the body and warm baths/ steam therapy. An added benefit to the reduction therapies of Panchakarma is the purifying of the tissues which leads to weight loss in a very healthy and nourishing manner. During this time you many go about your daily life but keep in mind to not overschedule and to be gently with yourself.
CAUTION
Pregnant or lactating women, children, or individuals with known medical conditions should consult with their healthcare practitioner before using the kit or doing any cleanse.
DISCLAIMER
Cleansing or reduction therapy is contraindicated in patients who are very weak or debilitated, postpartum, immune compromised, very young or very old. These patients have low Ojas. Reduction therapy is not advised because it can further weaken the patient through the purification process.
